Passings....and Welcomes!
On a sad note, we have lost some of our favorite old horses this past spring and summer.  Johnny passed away in June.  Just as we were getting over that loss, TS, Keedle’s childhood horse and our very special lesson horse, ruptured his tendon again and had to be euthanized.  And then Roller, our flying sausage, was euthanized today after a long fight with rumatoid arthritis.  It has been a sad summer however we know that the good old boys are now giving lessons in the sky with our beloved Dusty.

As we lose old friends we gain new ones, we would like to welcome Captain Crunch, Stang and an old friend Ms. Marshmallow on our team.

Lexie and Kaitlyn Samuels have found a new horse…Congrats on your new partner Jackson.  Connie Lane has also found the perfect partnership with her new horse Radar!  Good luck to you all.

We would like to welcome Whitney Drury to our team of instructors.  We look forward to all your sound advice!

Octoberfest ’07
Well I think I have finally recovered from this show. First I have to thank Maggie Wright for the best organized Octoberfest ever! I have been to many so I would know. This is a very hard show to organize so we should all send Maggie an email and tell her thank you again!! The weather was beautiful and everyone really got a taste of how to organize their time. We all did very well and had a blast supporting each others mishaps and wins. We had two exceptional little girls who got 9’s on their dressage test; unbelievable since they are under 12 years old. One blossoming teenager rode her first novice and had a much better dressage test. One very competitive little girl decided her fences were too small and she needed to jump bigger! One little girl got nervous and scared and still rode clean cross country and finished in the top five! And one amazing athlete competed all day in band the day before and rode a horse that made her nervous and still rode all three phases of the competition! If this is a small representation of the next generation of women the men better watch out; we are strong! We also had a great BBQ the night before. Thanks to the Poff’s for supplying us with some great grilling and a warm place to chat! Thank you to David Poff for the use of his Gator all day! Thanks to all the parents who made a good dish. Lastly thanks to all the parents who gave up their time and energies for this day with their girls and for taking care of their coach!

Flying Cross Farm
Well this was another day of trial and tribulations! Thank you Mary for putting this on at the end of the show year! We really appreciate all you do! I am still recovering from this event. Everyone was safe cross country. And the day turned out very nice. I think all of our new riders really felt what it was like to go through this long day. They all came out of it with smiles; even those who had a rough time. Some of us were on our new horses and we got to see how they perform and others were experiencing nerves they had never felt before. Special thanks to Rene, Emily and Katie who helped all our younger riders learn about eventing!

Jackie Lemastus has a new pony named Snowy! He will make a great addition to our event team. Good luck Jackie with your new pony!

Special thanks to Matthew, Jackie and Robin Lemastus and Claire Burkhart for giving us cart rides at our Christmas party and helping Santa make an entrance.

Thank you Santa for coming to visit us again at Alta Vista Farm! We hope you can stop by next year! Check out our pictures at Mike Sebastian's Web site.

Special Winter Lessons
Winter is right around the corner. We will be focusing on our dressage and position this winter. We will be offering lounge line lessons. These are great to improve your seat and you will be amazed at how easy your dressage will get. These are half hour lessons and require that your horse know how to lounge. Cost is $35.
